Vita 67.3 rf interconnect PortfoLio for aerosPace and defence use
The HUBER+SUHNER VITA 67.3 interconnect portfolio, designed for use with the company’s proprietary solderless MINIBEND radio frequency (RF) cable termination technology, is available from Lane Electronics. The VITA 67.3 standard enables
reliable, high-frequency signal transmission in aerospace and defence applications by standardising blind-mate RF interfaces at the backplane. This helps reduce cable management challenges and enhances system modularity and scalability. MINIBEND is the driving force behind
the aerospace and defence industry’s most versatile, low profile flexible cable assembly solutions, the company explains. With the launch of HUBER+SUHNER’s
VITA 67.3 interconnect portfolio, Lane Electronics can provide design engineers
circular connectors for harsh environments
Amphenol’s Socapex MIL-DTL-38999 Series – including circular connectors and cordsets, fibre optic connectors, PCB connectors, Ethernet and USB solutions – are available from Inelco Hunter. These are high-reliability circular connectors designed for harsh military applications, as well as aerospace and industrial systems. The connectors feature a 360˚ self-locking coupling, EMI
with high performance coaxial cable options featuring the industry’s smallest bend radius immediately behind the RF contact, enabling extremely tight routing without sacrificing durability or performance.

hybrid connectors for automation
Binder’s B23 is a new generation of hybrid connectors for industrial automation. This combines power supply and shielded data transmission in one compact connector and enables Ethernet transmission rates of up to 100 Mbit/s. Hybrid connectors such as the new B23
make it possible to implement power supply and communication via a single interface. The advantages of this technology are particularly evident in drive technology:
servo motors and drive systems can be connected with just one cable, simplifying integration and creating a leaner system architecture. B23 is suitable for both power supply and data transmission in decentralised automation
concepts and supports modular machine architectures, such as in robotics or flexible manufacturing systems. Screw clamp technology enables fast assembly with minimal tool requirements and without special crimping tools, while the bayonet locking system ensures a fast, secure connection and significantly reduces assembly times. Typical areas of use include drive technology and servo motors; decentralised
automation systems; modular machine and plant concepts; and robotics and flexible manufacturing systems.

Available from Powell Electronics, Positronic’s SCBM series is a high-performance mixed-density D-sub connector family for demanding spaceflight and harsh-environment applications. The SCBM series is part of Positronic’s proven
Combo-D product line and enables engineers to combine signal, power, coaxial, high-voltage and fibre optic contacts within a single connector platform. Delivering rugged mechanical performance, high current
capability, and low-outgassing materials suitable for mission- critical systems, these conform to applicable material, dimensional, and performance requirements of GSFC S-311-P4, GSFC S-311-P10, and DSCC specification 85039, while also meeting ASTM E-595 outgassing standards for spaceflight applications. SCBM Series devices incorporate fixed size 20 and size 8 contacts,

and support cable and wire crimp, solder, and PCB termination options. Rugged machined shells provide enhanced durability and resistance to shock and vibration in extreme operating environments. Power contacts within the connector series are rated up to 70A; and female closed-entry signal contacts utilise Positronic’s proprietary PosiBand contact system, while size 20 contacts are engineered to meet demanding 40g performance requirements. The product family includes 22
connector variants ranging from 2WK2 through to 46W4 and supports shell sizes 1 through 6.

shielding and high corrosion resistance, and operate between -65˚C to +200˚C. They have high-speed signal and power contacts for use in electronic systems and ground vehicles used in battlefield communications, with high bandwidth and fast data transfer capable of supporting multi-gigabit data rates. Advanced encryption and security are also supported, which is vital in today’s warfare systems. MIL-DTL-38999 Series connectors are available in a wide
range of shell materials and finishes, with 48, 500, 1000 and 2000-hour salt spray plating options. The connectors offer high density contact arrangements within a miniature circular shell, which provides high coupling durability. They also offer moisture and corrosion resistance with IP67 environmental protection, and some models have IP68 protection. The self- locking connector system features a triple-start threaded coupling; and copper alloy crimp socket contacts have gold plating to ensure high reliability.
