ROBUST ENCLOSURES TO PROTECT IN-CAB TOUCH SCREEN SYSTEMS PRODUCTS

ENCLOSURES & SAFETY SOLUTIONS

HMI systems housed within a cab still need high levels of ingress protection against the moisture and dust found in farming and civil engineering. To meet the demands, ROLEC offers the profiCASE enclosure, with IP65, IP66, IP67 protection. The enclosures, the company explains, are ideal for tractors and off-highway construction

vehicles, as well as mechanical engineering and underground mining applications. These diecast aluminium HMI enclosures can house touch screens, displays and

keypads up to 10in. They can be mounted directly or bolted to a VESA 100 bracket while remaining completely sealed. Integrated handle strips enable easy adjustment to the ideal viewing angle. These also have a captive lid which can be opened to 95˚ for easy access to the electronics and is secured with locking screws. There are two versions available: PCD with concealed rear screw mounting, and PCV with

front screw mounting for direct attachment in the cab. Torx screws deter tampering. The enclosures are cast from 100% recycled material in two sizes: 320 x 300 x 85mm

(for screens up to 7in) and 400 x 380 x 85mm (for screens up to 10in). Accessories include cable glands, pressure equalisation elements, terminal blocks, cross rails and DIN rails; and they can be supplied fully customised.

Now available from Inelco Hunter are the DiaForce Diagonal range of cooling fans from EBM-Papst, which measure just 119mm x 119mm x 89mm deep. These are powered by a 48VDC input and can provide a flow rate of up to 680m3

per hour. According to the company, the revolutionary

design incorporates a unique geometry of the impeller and housing: a conical cover plate that rotates with it, whilst the intake opening is smaller than the outlet opening, thus creating a larger pressure increase. The DiaForce lies between an axial and a

centrifugal fan. It is quieter thanks to aerodynamic optimisation – the blade tips pass directly into the cover plate. As a result, there is no tip gap and therefore hardly any turbulence in the gap area, where there is a significant pressure gradient. The air flows through the fan in both axial

and radial directions, enabling a high-pressure increase. Compared to a conventional single-stage axial compact fan it is said to offer up to 50% more air performance and up to a 6dB(A) lower sound level. System performance can be enhanced while still satisfying all standards, such as NEBS, OSHA, ANSI and ETSI. The DiaForce is a complete system consisting of a high-performance DC

motor, optimised aerodynamics and intelligent control electronics. Systems that process huge amounts of data are becoming increasingly powerful, and cooling is becoming a challenge in a variety of industries, such as automation, 5G telecommunications, autonomous driving and AI. The DiaForce’s performance will be able to meet the needs of future applications. Another benefit is reliability – the DiaForce’s

power reserves can be used to create redundancy. If, for example, the temperature increases, simply increase the speed. This is not possible with conventional single-stage cooling fans because they have to be operated at the power limit even during normal operation. As an optional extra, the new FanCheck diagnostic

tool can be added to the DiaForce. This is integrated into the fan electronics and calculates the realistic service life of the fan based on temperature, speed and preset environmental parameters. This means

the fan can stay in operation for longer without any loss of reliability, which saves on costs and protects the environment.

POLE/MAST BRACKET FOR MOUNTING ENCLOSURES IN HARSH APPLICATIONS

New from OKW is a universal bracket for mounting IP-rated electronic enclosures on poles and masts in harsh outdoor or industrial environments. Suitable for poles of minimum ø30 mm or > ø70 mm, this fits a wide range of OKW

enclosures, notably tough industrial electronics housings such as SOLID-BOX (IP 66, IP 67, IK08) and SMART-BOX (IP 66). The bracket can also be specified for use with other brands of enclosure. To fit the bracket to the rear of the enclosure, four holes need to be drilled 51mm

apart in a square pattern. As every application is different no mounting screws, cable ties or stainless steel screw bands are supplied – only the bracket is included. The 100 x 100 x 20mm universal bracket is moulded from UV-stable ASA (UL 94 HB).

OKW can supply the bracket on its own or as part of a customised enclosure project. Applications include plant/machine construction, HVAC, IoT/IIoT, smart factory/

Industry 4.0, gateways, data loggers, ICT, electrical installations, measurement, control, agriculture and safety engineering.
