ELECTRICAL & ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS DC/DC CONVERTERS
New from Rutronik is RECOM’s R24C2T25 series 2W isolated DC/DC converter, which enables designers to evaluate and use multiple types of SiC power transistors without design changes.
The converter comes in a compact, 36-pin,
SSO package and offers two asymmetrical output voltages that are programmable via external resistor networks to efficiently drive SiC gates. Voltages are maintained within ±1.5% to avoid the risk of overvoltage and damage. The total power available is 2W at an ambient temperature of up to 82˚C and 2.5W at up to 75˚C. The R24C2T25 has a soft start, input
undervoltage and overvoltage protection, thermal shutdown, and output overload protection. A Power Good signal and an ON/OFF control put the component into standby mode with less than 700μA current consumption. It is suitable for applications such as industrial automation, data communication, or infrastructure applications.

PROFILE HEAT SINKS FOR COOLING COMPONENTS
To ensure reliable processes, cooling of power supply components is key. To help, CTX profile heat sinks are ideal, especially in power electronics which have to operate continuously and often under harsh conditions. Custom-tailored and project-specific solutions for thermal management of all power electronics
applications are available from the company. CTX also provides cooling solutions for power supply units, transducers, battery chargers, frequency converters, electric drives and inverters. Which heat sink to use depends on the power dissipation and on the requirements of the particular
device. Extruded profile heat sinks, cold forging heat sinks, and PCB board or SMD heat sinks for natural convection are typical options for robust and low-maintenance devices. Effective thermal dissipation through natural convection is achieved with aluminium profile heat sinks. This is made possible by the rib-like construction called fins, which results in a large overall heat sink surface area. Aluminium profile heat sinks are generally manufactured from an aluminium extruded alloy with a thermal conductivity of 200-220 W/mK. The CTX portfolio comprises both standard
and project- or application-specific cooling solutions. The spectrum of standard extruded heat sinks includes fin, comb and finger heat sinks, as well as PCB-board heat sinks. Standard profile heat sinks range from 12.4mm to 750mm in width, with a weight between 130g/m and 75.1kg/m and thermal resistance Rth between 81.6˚C/W and 0.04˚C/W.

LEMO has introduced the MP Series – the progressive Modular Plastic Series that complements the REDEL connector family. These allow customers to easily configure, design and build their own connector. The new series features
a broad range of standard modules for power, signal, data, fibre optic and fluidic connectivity that can be combined into one single hybrid connector. The REDEL MP Series also
introduces high contact density modules, which allows up to 144 contacts in a compact connector by using the Card Edge concept. These
PCB modules can be further customised with the integration of intelligence, such as an EEPROM. The flexible and interchangeable design allows
the customer to transition easily to a different configuration for future product generations, without having to change the connector footprint. In addition, full cable assembly options are also available. This product is designed to support applications including medical, test and measurement, security, industrial and other demanding markets.

New from Nisshinbo Micro Devices is the compact NB7120ZA, a state-of-the-art single-cell Li-Ion battery protection IC in an ultra-small WLCSP package. This is suitable for a range of applications including hearing aids and wearable devices, smartphones, and handheld data terminals. The product has standard safety features such as
overcharge/over-discharge voltage, charge/discharge overcurrent and short circuit detection. The additional safety measures are mainly focussed on the improved
accuracy level of these measurements, which is particularly important for small devices worn on or in the human body to prevent unintentional injuries when the Li-Ion battery fails. A feature of the NB7120 is the use of high-side MOSFETs which allow the ground of the protection
circuit to be connected directly to the battery’s negative terminal. This simplifies the design complexity as all measurement and control signals can be referenced to the same ground potential. Furthermore, the additional CTL input offers a Forced Standby Function to control the product into standby mode without over-discharging the battery. Power consumption can be significantly reduced in this way and returns to the normal mode when a charger is connected.

Pickering Electronics has increased the power ratings of four of its most popular relay series. The Series 112 single-in-line (SIL) reed relays,
requiring a board area of only 0.15in by 0.4in, now feature a general purpose switch type 1 option, rated for up to 20 Watts (15W for the 3V coil version) at 1Amp switching current (with 1Amp carry current). This is suitable for high- density card-based systems. The Series 113 SIL reed relay range now includes the new general purpose switch type 1 options. This switch is rated for up to 20 Watts (15W for the 3V coil version) at 1Amp switching current, with 1Amp carry current. This series includes the smallest changeover reed relay available with a 2 Watts rating (switch type number 3) and a coaxial device suitable for up to 3GHz. Additionally, the switch type 1 option will be available in 2-pole DPST with a 5V coil, offering up to 20 Watts switching at 1Amp. Designed for very high-density applications, the Series 116 relays now offer new general purpose switch type 1 options rated for up to 20 Watts (15W for the 3V and 5V coil versions) at 1Amp switching current, with 1Amp carry current. The board area is optimised with 1 Form A (SPST) stacking on a 0.15in x 0.27in pitch and 2 Form A (DPST) stacking on a 0.15in x 0.40in pitch. Series 116 will also be available in 2-pole DPST. The Series 122 reed relays, occupying a PCB
footprint of only 4mm x 4mm, now feature general purpose switch type 1 options rated for up to 15 Watts at 1Amp switching current, with 1Amp carry current. At 12.5mm in height, these facilitate the highest packing density currently available.
