Saniflo’s Saniplus UP facilitates garden retreat by Shack Cabins
T
hanks to a Saniplus UP from Saniflo, a new garden retreat in the capital has been elevated to a new level of comfort and convenience. The solution,
expertly chosen by former DJ and TV presenter Sam Pinkham, owner of Shack Cabins, for one of his customers, facilitated the luxury of a fully functional WC in a stylish garden office and leisure space. The garden building, which was supplied and
built by Shack Cabin, sits slightly below the level of the main house, presenting a unique challenge for traditional waste drainage. The quiet Saniplus UP macerator system provided the ideal solution, efficiently pumping waste to the main soil stack. Installed discreetly behind a demountable panel, the unit is hidden yet accessible for maintenance. This seamless integration means visitors to the space would never know it was there. The Saniplus UP, part of Saniflo’s renowned macerator range, is designed for use with a full bathroom suite. It features a powerful motor capable of pumping waste up to 5 metres vertically or 100 metres horizontally, making it ideal for projects where gravity drainage isn’t an option. Its compact design and near-silent operation make it a practical and discreet solution for challenging installations. Sam Pinkham explained why he chose the Saniplus UP: “The Saniplus UP was the perfect choice for
this project. It’s incredibly easy to install and delivers reliable performance. My customer is over the moon with how it’s transformed their garden building into a versatile space with a fully functional bathroom. Without the Saniplus UP, this level of convenience wouldn’t have been possible.” Sam’s journey to founding Shack Cabins is as unique as the garden buildings he creates. Sam entertained audiences across the UK for years as a radio DJ and home & holiday programme presenter. Inspired by the buildings he had seen whilst working on TV – and seeing how garden buildings could add value to a property as either a work from home or accommodation option – he launched Shack Cabins, where he brings bespoke, high-quality garden spaces to life. The customer’s newly enhanced garden shack now serves as both an office and a relaxation area, complete
with the modern convenience of a private WC thanks to the versatile and practical Saniflo solution. Saniflo’s innovative range of macerators and pumps is designed to make bathroom and kitchen installations possible anywhere in the home or garden, regardless of the existing plumbing setup. The Saniplus UP, in particular, is renowned for its robust performance and quiet operation, making it a go-to choice for challenging projects like this one. products and services makes ACV UK the first choice for Big Motoring World.
A winning combination of quality W
hen Big Motoring World Headquarters needed a competitively priced and energy-efficient domestic hot water (DHW) solution for its new
state-of-the-art gym at its Gillingham Head Office, a new WaterMaster Evo 35 with stainless steel heat exchanger technology from ACV UK was installed to provide employees with a comfortable and continuous supply of hot water. Big Motoring World needed a reliable system to efficiently supply seven new showers and several washbasins in the changing rooms of its new basement gym. To address this requirement, the projects specified contractor, FlueGas Ltd, consulted with its local ACV UK representative, who after conducting a selection of sizing exercises, decided that the WaterMaster Evo with stainless steel heat exchanger technology, was the best solution. In addition to the practical benefits of the WaterMaster Evo, the high level of customer service and technical support offered by ACV UK played a significant role in this decision. “ACV was reliable, efficient, and a pleasure to work with.
They were always quick to respond when we needed them, and the support team provided us with some of the best technical assistance we’ve ever experienced”, comments Peter Rust, FlueGas Ltd. Available in six models, WaterMaster Evo features innovative tank-in-tank technology and fast re-heat times. This means that Big Motoring World employees can enjoy a constant supply of hot water during post-shower workouts. Moreover, thanks to a short recovery time, which means that less hot water is required to reach the desired output temperature when it is mixed with cold water, Big Motoring World can expect to benefit from reduced running costs and direct emissions. Featuring a compact and lightweight design, WaterMaster Evo also features a corrosion-resistant stainless steel heat exchanger and tank for reduced maintenance and durability. Following a successful installation, the new WaterMaster Evo 35 fully condensing gas-fired hot water system provides visitors to the gym with access to a constant supply of hot water on demand. Completed in two weeks, Big Motoring World now benefits from a cost-effective, robust, and reliable hot water system. FlueGas Ltd is a professional commercial heating, gas installation, and maintenance services company based in Hertfordshire. Established for 25 years, the team delivers first-class plumbing and heating services across London and the Southeast of England.

Embodied Carbon Lifecycle Assessment
lbion Valves (UK) Limited are delighted to announce that they have released
their Embodied Carbon Lifetime Assessment (LCA) for their whole range of Cast Iron and Ductile Iron valves. This assessment focuses on
the environmental impacts associated with the life cycle of a product, from the raw material extraction through to the recycling or disposal of the product at the end of its useful life. By using CIBSE’s Mid-level TM65 methodology, Albion has assessed the energy and materials required to manufacture, transport, and use the product and has given each product a simple LCA figure (measured in kgCO2e) to enable an accurate way to compare the emissions released to the environment of different products. Contractors can also use this information to determine the overall greenhouse gases (kgCO2e) that a project has released throughout its construction phase, and throughout the building’s lifetime. Albion Valves is currently analysing data for their range of brass/bronze products, once complete,
over 80% of Albion’s range will have an Embodied Carbon Lifecycle Assessment, which will assist the consultants within the industry to make a more informed decision about the environmental impact of the valves they are using in their systems. Not only are Albion striving to help consumers make more informed decisions, but they are also reviewing the energy efficiencies within their own HQ in Barnsley, which will see PV Panels installed in early 2025, this will power the whole of the site, including the charging of electric company vehicles! As well as this, we are also striving to achieve ISO 50001 accreditation which will underpin our efforts to improve energy use. Albion’s Embodied Carbon Lifecycle Assessment can be found on Albion’s website under Downloads -> Technical Guides.
