Elta Trade Introduces DEXA 150 Fan for Continuous Extraction in Residential Buildings

E

lta Trade has announced the launch of the DEXA dMEV 150 fan, the latest addition to its growing portfolio of high-performance ventilation

products. Designed to meet the increasing demand for improved indoor air quality, the decentralised mechanical extract ventilation (dMEV) unit represents a significant evolution in residential ventilation. The launch comes as local authorities, landlords,

and letting agents across the UK look to combat condensation, damp and mould problems within homes, with North Tyneside Council issuing a new Condensation, Damp, and Mould Policy, and East Riding and Hull City Council running pilot projects to raise awareness of the issues. The DEXA dMEV 150 is a continuously running extract fan designed to remove stale or moisture-rich

air from spaces such as bathrooms, kitchens and WCs, helping to minimise the risk of condensation. With an airflow capacity of up to 50 l/s, the DEXA dMEV 150 exceeds minimum requirements outlined in Part F of the Building Regulations. This exceptional performance ensures effective extraction, creating conditions that support better indoor air quality when combined with appropriate background ventilation measures such as window trickle vents. Building on the success of the DEXA dMEV 100, the new DEXA dMEV 150 delivers increased airflow, enhanced versatility, and greater installation flexibility. With a larger diameter and improved performance, the new fan caters to a wider range of applications. Equipped with an energy-efficient EC motor, the DEXA dMEV 150 operates quietly while minimising power consumption. As regulations around air quality increasingly favour a continuous airflow strategy above an intermittent one, Elta’s latest offering positions HVAC professionals and their clients ahead of the curve, providing future-proof compliance without compromising on performance. The DEXA dMEV 150 also features advanced automation, including an intelligent timer and humidity sensor, which automatically boosts airflow when needed. It is designed for easy installation with flexible mounting options for walls, ceilings and windows — making it an ideal choice for both retrofitting and new builds. Nick Higgs, National Sales Manager at Elta Trade, said: "With the DEXA dMEV 150, we’ve responded

to a growing requirement for powerful, energy-efficient ventilation solutions that offer continuous air movement. Few manufacturers are producing fans in this category, and we’ve seized the opportunity to innovate. The DEXA dMEV 150 provides the flexibility, durability, and performance that contractors and specifiers need to meet today’s ventilation challenges and tomorrow’s regulations." The DEXA dMEV 150 enables HVAC professionals to deliver sustainable, high-quality ventilation solutions. With its robust design and superior functionality, it offers a reliable choice for managing indoor air quality in any setting.

ESi’s bestselling programmable room thermostat developed for the future

K based heating controls manufacturer, ESi Controls, has upgraded its most popular product, the ESRTP4RF+ programmable room thermostat,

and developed ESRTP4RFW. The new version is WiFi compatible when combined with the ESi WiFi Hub (ESWIFIHUB). Both versions – the original ESRTP4RF+ and the new ESRTP4RFW – are available, offering maximum choice and versatility for installers and homeowners alike. Ryan Green, National Sales Manager, explains: “After listening to installer feedback and analysing our products, we've made the decision to take our best-selling product, which is a first choice with many installers, and offer another version that is in keeping with modern technology and householders’ expectations. “Our technical team have done a great job of updating the technology inside the control. They’ve added a Wi-fi chip that allows the upgraded model to work with our Wi-Fi Hub (sold separately) so that it can be operated remotely. “We have kept the original ‘industry standard’ back plate because installers often comment on the benefit this provides during installations. The feedback we've received suggests that installers prefer the backplate because it is very forgiving in terms of size and space, making it easy to fit. Some of the other heating controls and programmers have backplates that have been changed, making them more compact, with smaller terminals, arguably making installations more difficult in certain situations. “We have taken the opportunity to upgrade the original slider bar to buttons for operating the thermostat’s functions. This is as a result of feedback that the slider bar was a bit dated and could occasionally be a bit difficult for some users, particularly those with limited eyesight, to see which mode they were in. The buttons, with bigger labels on them, provide better useability for those people. “It was a bold move, taking our best known and most popular product and upgrading it; now the aesthetics are better and the control is easier to use, and the feedback we have received since we launched it at the Installer Show earlier this year has been extremely positive”, adds Ryan. To coincide with the launch of the new control, the ESi app is having a makeover, too. It will still be simple to use with excellent functionality, and is having a complete aesthetic upgrade. ESI Controls is continuing to offer the option for the thermostat front cover to be laser-engraved, free of charge, with the installer’s logo and business details, to ensure the installer is the customer’s first point of contact. The ESRTP4RFW is compatible with gas, electric, oil and LPG boilers. It gives the option of choosing 24-hour, seven-day or five/two-day programming and either four or six daily temperature options. It comes with a standard three-year warranty. Like all the products offered by ESi Controls, it is tested for quality and reliability and the company is proud of its ‘fit and forget’ reputation.
