t’s been a busy year across the building services industry, with safety, energy efficiency, the Net Zero drive and the worrying skills shortage always featuring among the most pressing challenges Our own Building Services Forum attempted to go some way to addressing many of this subjects when it was held at the Building Centre in London on November 28. And this, the final issue of BSEE for the year, follows suit: On pg 6 Conex Bänninger champions press-fit for its efficiency and safety benefits, while Carrier discusses the planet friendly advantages of refurbishing and upgrading mechanical ventilation systems on Pg 8. On Pg 10 Insite Energy explains how to prepare for a new era of heat networks which will face big legislative changes in the New Year. On Pg11 BESA discusses fire safety and the roll out of new fire damper guidance, while the BCIA

addresses the skills shortage in particular what can be done to attract skilled and talented workers to the sector.


On Pg 16 Polypipe Building Services contends that ‘doing more with less’ by building more with less labour, energy, time and cost is the answer to many of the above issues. We feature an example of how 100-year-old flats


are proving heat pump sceptics wrong on Pg 20 and you can find out everything you need to know about infrared heating on Pg 24. Also featured, from Zehnder on Pg 22, is some insight into the hidden dangers of condensation which can affect health of individuals and buildings.
