A Q38SR and Q51SR boiler from ATAG Commercial have both been installed at Bale Abbey School in East Sussex as part of an upgrade to the exisng heang system, which was completed in June 2020.

Founded in 1912, Battle Abbey School is located across multiple sites, including the grounds of the historic Battle Abbey itself, which is home to the main school buildings, as well as boarding facilities for students.

Both of the boilers fitted are part of ATAG Commercial’s QR Series range, with the Q38SR providing heating and hot water for the boarding area of the school, whereas the Q51SR is located in the performing arts centre.

The heating system refurbishment was overseen by East Sussex- based plumbing and heating specialist PJ Clifford Ltd.

Commenting on the installation, Peter Clifford, director at PJ Clifford Ltd, said: “The old boilers had come to the end of their natural lifespan, so we selected new, more energy efficient models from the ATAG

Commercial QR Series range. They were perfect for the project, not only in terms of robustness and reliability, but also in their range of outputs.”

Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulaon has been used to insulate pipework distribung ancient thermal spring water around a stunningly refurbished Georgian spa hotel in Buxton.

The regeneration project includes a thermal natural mineral water spa, visitor attraction (managed by the Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust), retail units and an 81-bedroom luxury spa hotel to be operated by ENSANA. Freehold of the buildings is held by High Peak Borough Council and Derbyshire County Council who alongside the Heritage Lottery Fund also provided grant funding for the project.

Whilst the focus has been on sensitive restoration, the building services specification also makes use of modern technologies which will make the building both comfortable and cost efficient to run. As part of this approach, Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation was installed on concealed pipework throughout the buildings.

Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation is one of the most thermally efficient pipework insulation materials on the market today, with an aged thermal conductivity as low as 0.025 W/mK (at 10 °C). This performance allowed pipework, including that transporting the naturally heated thermal water, to be effectively insulated with the thinnest possible insulation.

In addition to its excellent thermal performance, Kingspan Kooltherm Pipe Insulation also supports a healthy environment for guests at the luxury hotel. The product is certified as a best-in-class low emitter of harmful VOCs under the Eurofins Indoor Air Comfort Gold standard, showing it complies with some of the most demanding voluntary specifications from across Europe.

Waterloo’s airline linear grilles were selected as the wide range of options and fabrications provided greater design flexibility to meet the various air diffusion, engineering and architectural specifications.

Waterloo CS small format continuous slot diffusers were chosen due to their high aerodynamic and acoustic performance which made them ideally suited for use at 375 Kensington High Street. With an excellent low flow rate air diffusion and high air handling capacity, the ability of the versatile CS series to allow any air diffusion to vertical projection without any change in the facial appearance was an added benefit on this project.

throughout the reception and high traffic communal areas. Seamless runs of energy saving cost effective LED lighting were created using connectable modules offered in 600, 1200, 1500 and 1800 mm lengths and interconnecting power and module connectors. Platinum and Platinum Mini downlighters complemented the design complete with drop frosted glass décors and IP65 rated diffusers.

The other notable downlighter used was the F- Type. This popular compact downlight family includes F-Type Fixed, F-Type Adjustable, F-Type Dim2Warm and F-Type Colour Change, speed and ease of installation guaranteed due to Clip & Fit and Speed Fit wiring. Super-efficient Samsung LED chips deliver 100Llm/cW, with F-Type also offering leading and trailing edge dimming compatibility as standard.
