Gilberts top of the class with new eco solution
B
ritain’s leading independent air movement specialist Gilberts is leading the class in helping deliver
net zero educational and commercial buildings by 2050. The company’s Mistrale Fusion Deo
MFS-HR hybrid ventilation with heat recovery system has exceeded sales targets by more than 250% since its launch 18 months ago. In that time, it has also been short-listed for two top industry awards. Demand for the product is due to its
outstanding performance compared to alternatives- offering 65% heat recovery as standard! The high levels of heat recovery mean that it reduces the overall construction and running costs for the building and opens potential for the building to be carbon negative. Independent data reveals that Gilberts
MFS-HR delivers energy savings of up to 20%. It can reduce solar panel and/or heat pump required output by 7%. It achieves air leakage below 3m/3ph/m2. Its U value is below 1.0W/m2/°C. Further, it is BB101 ventilation, BB93 acoustic and TM52 comfort compliant. British designed, engineered and manufactured, MFS-HR features adjustable flow and noise rates/
levels to optimise suitability for specific classroom requirements. Integral CO2 monitoring and controls guarantee compliant indoor air quality in line with Department for Education guidelines. Gilberts’ MFS-HR’s attraction to specifiers results from more than its performance. Considerate design means MFS-HR is easy to install/attach to the through-façade air intake/extract
louvres. MFS-HR can function as a stand-alone unit or whole zone/whole building system, ducted or fitted above ceilings. With optional heating/cooling, MFS-HR removes the need for supplementary plant, further positively impacting capital equipment and running costs. “Our reputation over the past 60+ years has been built on innovation, quality and giving the market
what it wants and needs,” says Ian Rogers, Gilberts Sales Director. “We knew Mistrale Fusion Deo MFS- HR was ahead of the game when we first began developing the concept. Its success has surpassed our expectations, demonstrating British manufacturing is still world class.” Details of Gilberts’ Mistrale Fusion Deo MFS-HR system can be found @

eading British ventilation manufacturer Vent-Axia is delighted to support Net Zero Week (5-11), the UK’s official national awareness week, backed by the Government and industry. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, it aims to bring together all the stakeholders needed to reach Net Zero by 2050 and
ensure Britain’s energy is secure and affordable. Vent-Axia is committed to providing healthy indoor air while driving a low-carbon future. The company is therefore paving the way in the ventilation sector when it comes to its decarbonisation. Vent-Axia aims to be Net Zero by 2040, ten years before the Government’s 2050 Net-Zero target. Vent-Axia is committed to reducing its environmental impact and its strategy focuses on three
pillars: Product – Engineer Sustainable Solutions; Planet – Improve Environmental Performance; and People – Connect People Together, and recycling is a core part of this vision. Vent-Axia’s Group now reports 70.9% of sales revenue from low-carbon products, and 78.1% of the plastic it uses in its own manufacturing is from recycled sources. Vent-Axia recognises the importance of cutting carbon emissions in the built environment since buildings
account for 40% of energy use in Europe and approximately 35% of emissions. To meet the Government’s 2050 Net-Zero target, buildings need to decarbonise which will involve the wide-scale electrification of heating, a move away from fossil fuels, as well as significant improvements to air tightness and building insulation. Heat recovery ventilation will be a key technology to help deliver the final piece of the carbon avoidance by preventing heat loss, so as a technology it is set for significant growth. “At Vent-Axia we are proud to support
Net Zero Week. We have been leading the ventilation industry since 1936 and continue to do so with our aim to become Net Zero by 2040. At Vent-Axia we are committed to a low-carbon future with the health and wellbeing of people and the planet at its core”, said Alexis Roberts, Channel Marketing Manager at Vent-Axia. “Carbon avoidance is the only way for the UK to reach Net Zero with the decarbonisation of buildings an essential part of this. Designing low-carbon buildings presents many challenges so we want to make things as easy as possible for specifiers. We aim to provide our customers with the products to help them on their decarbonisation journey while also continuing our commitment to providing effective ventilation to improve indoor air quality and comfort for inhabitants.” To meet the necessary carbon reductions
buildings are becoming more thermally efficient as they are insulated, and their air tightness is increased to avoid heat loss. However, without considering ventilation alongside these measures a building can end up with condensation, mould and poor IAQ. Energy efficient heat recovery ventilation therefore supplies a solution that provides healthy filtered air while recovering heat that would be otherwise lost. Vent-Axia is a solutions provider and
collaborates closely with its customer base to ensure it develops the products customers need to decarbonise. For that reason, the company is constantly improving the efficiency of its products and reducing their carbon intensity. For the company’s latest heat recovery ventilation products, the award-winning Sentinel Apex commercial heat recovery system and the Lo-Carbon Sentinel Econiq residential Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) range, it can provide TM65 data to help customers understand their wider life cycle assessment. The Sentinel Apex and the Lo-Carbon Sentinel Econiq have specifically been designed to meet the challenges of decarbonisation. Both systems feature market-leading heat recovery efficiencies of up to 93%. Both heat recovery systems also contain energy efficient EC/DC motors with market-leading extremely low Specific Fan Power, these types of motors typically mean a third less energy is lost to heat compared to a conventional AC motor, with motor efficiencies better than IE5. With overheating an issue in thermally efficient buildings the Lo-Carbon Sentinel Econiq and Sentinel
Apex and have been designed with an automatic 100% summer bypass which is sized to eliminate performance loss. Ventilation on demand is also available as standard to ensure no wasted energy, whilst indoor IAQ is improved. Both systems contain high levels of filtration to ensure the air supplied is fresh and healthy for improved and better indoor air quality. Vent-Axia, and electricals retailer AO, won the prestigious BEAMA Net Zero Collaboration Award in 2024. Recognising outstanding partnerships that contribute to advancing Net Zero, sustainability, and circularity within the electrical industry, the companies scooped the accolade for their pioneering initiative transforming AO’s recycled fridge plastic into high-quality Vent-Axia ventilation products. This innovative partnership represents a significant step in sustainable UK manufacturing. Vent-Axia also won the ‘Low Carbon Impact Award: Commercial or Industrial’ at the prestigious H&V
News Awards 2024. Vent-Axia received the accolade for its ground-breaking manufacturing transformation, transitioning from virgin to recycled plastic, including creating a pioneering materials database For further information on Vent-Axia’s sustainability strategy visit:
