Woodford Renewables & SmartTECH launches Innovation Hub

L

eading building services contractor Woodford Renewables & SmartTECH has successfully launched its state-of-the-art Innovation Hub. Based at the company’s headquarters in Essex, the Hub will play a key role in

Woodford’s new division going forward, as it looks to promote energy saving strategies and technologies among consultants, engineers and facilities managers in both the commercial and domestic sectors. Following its official opening by Woodford Chairman Roy Alderslade,

the Innovation Hub will be used to demonstrate the latest sustainable products and technologies, as well as provide staff with valuable training to improve their understanding of renewables as the UK continues its journey to net zero. The venue also provides a base for local businesses and Woodford’s industry partners in London and the South East to come and learn more about sustainable buildings, along with CPD opportunities. By working closely with MEP consultants, engineers and facilities managers, Woodford Renewables & SmartTECH ensures businesses are functioning efficiently, helping them reduce operating costs while delivering maximum return on investment. From installing solar PV through to optimising HVAC systems, Woodford can advise on compliance- led change and provide payback modelling, ensuring renewable energy is accessible and affordable for all projects. The Renewables & SmartTECH team is fronted by Sheaun Carpenter, Operations Director, alongside Woodford’s newly-appointed Head of Business Development, Jamie Lewis. Commenting on the company’s latest offering, Jamie Lewis said: “Woodford Renewables & SmartTECH

is focused on driving sustainability and developing energy saving initiatives for both commercial and residential projects. Utilising renewable resources, we can help meet the UK’s growing need for energy while keeping carbon emissions low and helping the country deal with climate change. Now, thanks to the Innovation Hub, our suppliers have a facility where they can trial products – such as low temperature radiators, solar and heat pump systems – to maximise their sustainable potential.” The Innovation Hub is part of Woodford Renewables & SmartTECH’s ongoing commitment to providing commercial and industry energy-saving opportunities throughout a wide range of applications, including offices, schools, industrial units, hospitals, car parks, leisure facilities, airports and more. Jamie continued: “The introduction of the Hub coincides with the upgrade of our offices, which benefit

from 100 solar PV panels, smart LED lighting, EV car chargers and upcycled furniture. Each of these elements will contribute to Woodford’s own journey to net zero by 2030, as we continue to build on our existing skillset and share our knowledge with our customers and their projects.” Sheaun Carpenter, Operations Director, added: “We are thrilled to have opened the Innovation Hub. It is

testament to our work ethic and commitment to renewables that we can now offer excellent facilities for both clients and local businesses to expand their knowledge of carbon cutting strategies and technologies. After all, it is key to establish a skilled workforce to look after the renewable projects that emerge and come to fruition in the coming years.”

NAVIGATOR ACHIEVES NSF REG4 ACCREDITATION FOR NEW SERPENT FLEXIBLE CONNECTOR

N

avigator – one of the leading suppliers to building and plumbers merchants up and down the country

– has received NSF REG4 accreditation for its new Serpent flexible connector. The certificate was presented during The Installer Show at the NEC at the end of June on the company’s stand. Luke Yates from NSF presented the certificate and a plaque to Navigator’s John Byrne. The Serpent is the new way to make flexible connections – particularly if you’re working in a restricted, confined space – like under a sink where there are several other pipes and fittings, or if its fully on display and you don’t want a mesh connector that quickly rusts or at best, loses its pristine look soon after fitting. And it’s an all stainless steel construction product – so its reliable and does the job 100%. The Serpent has no inner liner to rupture or block, and even when the

hose is bent to an acute angle, the full bore is maintained, resulting in perfect flow and much easier installation. The pressure rating and flexibility of the product has been successfully tested for leakage and pressure to BS EN ISO 1086:2023 which specifies a maximum test pressure of 31.5 BAR and a leak test of 1.5 times that pressure. It’s NSF Regulation-4 approved for use with potable water and uses only WRAS approved materials,

it comes in white and has a wipe clean outer cover. It can be bent and re-bent – it won’t split or snap. The fittings at either end – and there are a wide selection of these, both sizes and end connections - are stainless steel and easy to tighten and loosen. It’s a dream product and its available from all good plumbers merchants. “We’re more than delighted to get the NSF Reg-4 for this excellent product,” says Navigator’s Roger Evans. “We’ve been pleased with the way our relationship with NSF has progressed and the speed with which they have managed to provide approval. They agreed to have this for us at the show and they were good to their word. Interest in the Serpent has been phenomenal already, so we’re looking to see this transform into a major success story for Navigator.”

Panasonic’s NEW R290 Air to Water Reversible Heat Pumps in Capacities 50 – 80 kW

W

elwyn, UK, June 15, 2023 – Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions is launching its new sustainable and highly efficient ECOi-W AQUA-G BLUE air to water reversible heat pumps, ideal for large commercial, industrial or multi dwelling residential applications. By utilising R290, a natural

refrigerant with a very low Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 3, this heat pump has a lower environmental impact when released into the atmosphere compared to other refrigerants. It delivers outstanding performance, aligning with Panasonic’s vision of a carbon-free society and its GREEN IMPACT plan. This new range boasts a high seasonal performance value with a maximum SEER 4,4[1] and SCOP 3,9[2],

and has an impressive energy efficiency rating of A++[3]. Its cooling mode application sees a water outlet temperature of -15 °C, ensuring optimal operation temperature for process equipment in factories. It also provides the ideal solution for heating, cooling and domestic hot water, reaching 70 °C leaving water temperature from 0 °C outside air temperature. For a more reliable and efficient solution, the new range utilises unique scroll compressor

technology. This allows the ECOi-W AQUA-G BLUE range to provide the perfect balance of efficiency and silent operation, with a notably low minimum sound power level of only 79.9 dB(A), and a minimum pressure level of just 51.9 dB(A). An optional compressor box is available to provide an additional level of noise reduction. Panasonic offers a unique range of capacities available with the R290 refrigerant and scroll compressor technology, with 4 sizes from 50 – 80 kW. In addition, the range can boost capacity up to 480 (kW) by connecting up to 6 units in cascade. The units are fully customisable with various configuration options and will be available to market in Autumn 2023. The range is compatible with Panasonic’s Plug & Play Cascade Control, which allows connection to Panasonic’s ECOi-W Cloud for remote access in real time, to optimise the service and maintenance work. Panasonic does not compromise on product quality, safety or durability in order to provide the ultimate comfort. Special safety measurements are equipped for R290 refrigerant, including the addition of a ventilation system[4], air/refrigerant separator and a non- flammable sealed electrical box.
