DATA-BASED PROCESS OPTIMISATION According to Rogg, the Fermentation Monitor QWX43 could be especially advantageous for his contract brewing business. Once the cuckoo brewers have made initial contact with Rogg and agreement has been reached on aspects such as the type of beer, quantity, bottling, empties and costs, the first meeting usually takes place on site. “Most of them want to get a feeling for the beer,” says Rogg, who is convinced that a beer is only as good as the relationship the brewer builds with his product. The discussion then shifts to the important processes and key parameters. Rogg offers his entire expertise when advising his customers. “And once we start brewing, my customers naturally want to know how the fermentation process is running and whether their product is in good hands.” For Rogg, who views himself as a reliable partner and service provider, making the data collected during the fermentation process available to his customers is a given. It is a time- consuming task without the fermentation monitor, but with the innovative instrument it takes only a matter of seconds. Rogg simply

provides the customers with digital access to the measurement data continuously recorded by the instrument. The cuckoo brewers can retrieve the data on their own using a smartphone, tablet or PC. Rogg’s experience is that the cuckoo brewers value the transparency in many different ways. “They want to know precisely how the brewing process functions. For them it’s all about manufacturing a high-quality product as efficiently as possible.” Apart from the transparency, the contract brewer can score points with his customers by offering additional services. Using the measurement values automatically stored by the QWX43, he can carry out analyses, compare individual batches and then offer customers data-based process improvements and product development. A batch produced through an ideal fermentation process can be marked as a reference with the Fermentation Monitor QWX43 and automatically and continuously compared to the current batch. If the deviation is too great, the brewer is notified via the app and can take countermeasures. Customers receive an optimised product as well as benefiting from a high degree of planning reliability since the measurement values can be used to create a dependable timetable for further steps such as the filling process.
