INFRARED TEMPERATURE SENSOR NOW WITH IO-LINK AND SETTING AID
B
oth the analogue measured value and the switching output are freely programmable
via IO-Link or directly on the new infrared temperature sensor. The sensitivity is also easy to set remotely or directly on the sensor. In addition, ifm electronic has equipped the new TW21 series devices with a pilot light as a setting aid for precise orientation. Non-contact temperature measurement: The
new device shows its strength above all with exact temperature measurement of particularly hot objects or objects that are difficult to access, such as in the steel, plastics or glass industries. The green pilot light is easily visible even on red-hot surfaces. The sensor also features a simulation mode that can be directly triggered on the sensor or via an external control signal. Batch-related programming: Parameters can be dynamically adjusted to the
application from the control room using the integrated IO-Link communication interface. IFM

UNDERSTANDING COOLED VERSUS UNCOOLED OPTICAL GAS IMAGING
F
LIR Systems has published a technical note that discusses and compares the
advantages of cooled versus uncooled Optical Gas Imaging (OGI) technology for different industrial applications. Historically, OGI cameras have been
designed with cooled infrared (IR) detectors that offer several advantages over uncooled detectors - but they often come at a higher cost. Advancements in the technology of uncooled detectors have allowed the OGI camera manufacturers such as FLIR to design and develop lower cost OGI solutions for a growing range of industrial applications. However, although lower in cost, there are some limitations to OGI cameras with uncooled detectors versus those using cooled detectors. Before comparing the benefits of the 2 technologies the authors provide a useful
background to the scientific theory of OGI cameras. The technical note discusses when selecting a camera for your OGI needs, the first
factor to consider is ensuring the camera in question can visualize your target gas. FLIR Systems

DELTA ELEKTRONIKA SIGNS TELONIC INSTRUMENTS AS UK DISTRIBUTOR I
ndependent DC power supply manufacturer, Delta Elektronika has signed an agreement with test instrument and power supply specialist supplier, Telonic Instruments, to act as a distributor in the
UK. Delta Elektronika produces reliable power supplies, with a design concept emphasising longevity,
high-end technical specifications and low cost of ownership. Its power supplies are fast, reacting more than 10 times faster to load transients than
comparable alternatives available today, with minimum audible noise and 10-30 times less electromagnetic interference (EMI), for reliable, quiet operation and protection against immunity. All Delta Elektronika’s DC power supply units are thoroughly tested before being dispatched to
customers. In addition to high-performance DC power supplies, Delta Elektronika provides outstanding
service and technical support to customers - even for equipment that was bought many years ago. Product support continues 10 years after production has ceased. Netherlands-based DC power supply manufacturer, Delta Elektronika was established in 1959. The
family-owned company designs and manufactures DC power units, ranging from 150W to 900kW for customers working in industry, R&D and universities worldwide. For over 50 years, Telonic Instruments has been supplying test instruments and programmable
AC and DC power supplies, electronic loads, safety testers and RF/EMC equipment from leading, international brands for customers in demanding industries around the world. Rien Giltay, SM, Delta Elektronika believes the two companies share an ethos for quality and customer care: “Delta is delighted to appoint Telonic as distributor in the UK. We are
both family companies with an empathy for the products. We felt it was only natural to partner with Telonic to enter the UK market,” he said. Doug Lovell MD, Telonic Instruments, agrees: “The addition of Delta Elektronika to our line card complements our existing portfolio and adds more high-quality DC power supply
options to our customers,” he added. Telonic Instruments
