The new online catalogue from Schmersal is available from today at: www.products.schmersal.com

T

hrough the website, Schmersal is showcasing more than 7000

safety and automation products, from straightforward electro- mechanical safety switches to programmable safety control systems and software. The catalogue also includes switchgear for use in potentially explosive atmospheres and components for lift technology. The new online catalogue has a modern design and a clear, concise structure plus user-friendly search and selection functions. A new feature is the option of access to the external CADENAS and ePlan platforms, allowing designers to transfer the 3D data for selected products directly to their CAD applications. RANGE OF PRESSURE TRANSMITTERS FOR USE IN HAZARDOUS AREAS

K

eller AG has now introduced a complete range of pressure transmitters for use

in hazardous areas. These intrinsically safe transmitters offer measurement ranges of between 0,2 bar and 1000 bar, so they can be used for measurements of all types in areas subject to explosion hazards in Group II (Gas), and as per the relevant ATEX Directive. Individual types from the product range are also approved for Group I (Mining) respec tively Group II (Dust). Common features of all Y-line pressure

transmitters include a very low temperature error, with correspondingly high measure ment accuracy. Thanks to the integrated temperature sensor and an additional digital circuit, the range of envisaged opera ting temperatures can be divided into as many as 120 sections with a width of 1.5 Kelvin. During factory calibration, a mathe matical model is used to calculate individual compensation values for TK zero point and TK amplification for each of these sections; the values are then stored in the transmitter.

FAST-RESPONDING CHILLED MIRROR HYGROMETER SELECTED FOR EMISSIONS CONTROL TESTS IN CHINA

O

ne of China’s largest automotive manufacturers, SAIC Motor

Corporation Ltd, selected Michell’s Optidew 501 wall-mounted chilled mirror dew-point hygrometer as a reference instrument for temperature and humidity control during engine emissions tests. China has the world’s largest fleet

of motor vehicles estimated at around 340 million. Due to this volume of traffic, limiting air pollution is a priority and stringent emission standards are enforced by the government. China’s ‘National V’ emissions standards were implemented on 1st January 2017, and are equivalent to the EU’s ‘Stage V’ emission standards that have been in force in Europe since 2016. To cut further cut emissions, new stricter ‘National VI’ standards come into force this

year (2020). The new standards have put pressure on Chinese car manufacturers to upgrade their test procedures, which includes careful control of temperature and humidity during emissions testing.

PORTABLE PROCESS CALIBRATOR - APPROVED FOR HAZARDOUS AREAS W

WIKA Instruments Limited  01737 644008  www.wika.co.uk

IKA's CPH7000 portable process calibrator has received ATEX approval. It is therefore also suitable for use in hazardous areas.

The CPH7000 provides highly flexible on-site calibration for process

transmitters and pressure gauges. A high-pressure version even tests measuring ranges up to 10,000 bar. The portable, multi-function instrument integrates an electronics module, a hand pump for generating test pressures of up to 25 bar and a high-performance data logger. Due to its equipment, the CPH7000 also fulfils test tasks for the measurement parameters of temperature, voltage and current.
