platform embeds field capture, documentation and market messaging into operational workflows, helping reduce administration while maintaining a consistent and auditable approach to compliance. L&B Electrical is one example of how bringing
these processes together can support day-to-day delivery. Following SIP accreditation, the business has been able to take greater control of its installation programme, reducing reliance on third parties and delays associated with waiting for DNO attendance. Digital workflows within JobWay help embed SIP
requirements into everyday operations, giving engineers a consistent process for completing and evidencing work. L&B has also joined Shocking Energy’s Isolator Installer Network, enabling it to carry out accredited isolations for other contractors that do not hold SIP status themselves. The significance is not simply the accreditation
itself. It is the ability to combine engineering capability with the systems, processes and evidence needed to deliver that work efficiently and demonstrate that it has been completed correctly and compliantly.
Today’s test result is tomorrow’s
diagnostic baseline Better capture of testing and commissioning information also creates value long after an installation is complete. Today’s commissioning result can become tomorrow’s diagnostic baseline. When reliable information remains attached to the job and asset, an engineer investigating a
future fault has meaningful historical information against which to compare its current condition. Instead of approaching each visit with limited knowledge of what happened previously, teams can build a clearer picture of how an installation has changed over time. That will become increasingly important as
electrical infrastructure grows smarter and generates more operational data. More data, however, does not automatically mean better decisions. Its value depends on its accuracy, consistency and context. The next evolution of test and measurement is
therefore about more than increasingly sophisticated instruments. It is also about
connecting the measurement with the engineer, asset, safety process and operational record surrounding the job. Electrical infrastructure may be becoming more
complex, but the objective remains simple: know what was tested, know it was safe, understand what the result means and be able to prove it. For contractors, maintaining that chain of
evidence from planning and commissioning through to maintenance and diagnostics will become an increasingly important part of delivering safe, reliable and scalable electrical infrastructure.
