Emergency Light Test Switch from ESP
E
SP’s Duceri emergency light test switches are designed to test batteries, lamps and duration function of
emergency lighting luminaires in accordance with current emergency lighting standard BS5266. They will help building owners and responsible persons to maintain compliance. These automatic, key-operated emergency lighting test
switches are permanently wired to the emergency luminaire supply. The key switch is used to interrupt the supply for a pre-programmed period of time. At the end of that period, the supply to the luminaries is automatically reinstated, so there’s no risk of depleting the batteries in the emergency fitting by leaving them connected for prolonged periods. There are two models to choose from - standard LED
display or countdown digital display. They each feature four pre-programmed test intervals – 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes and 180 minutes

types of sensors available across Aico’s extensive range of Fire and Carbon Monoxide products. It has been designed to help customers site alarms correctly and provide assistance with installation. The popular Handybook also provides information on the importance of the
initial testing of a system following installation and then regular testing on an ongoing basis, as well as maintenance and fault finding.

Protection from power cuts – with maximum power availability and efficiency
T
hreats to our mains electrical supply like the recent August 9th UK national grid blackout highlight the essential need for effective UPS protection.
However, not just any UPS will do – your solution should offer the best possible availability together with optimum power efficiency. Scalable UPS technology is an attractive answer for many users. In this article, Alex Emms, Operations Director at Kohler Uninterruptible Power, discusses the circumstances under which scalability can contribute to availability and uptime. The discussion also touches briefly on how it can improve UPS energy efficiency.
What does availability mean?
Before we can see how scalability can influence availability, we need to understand exactly what the term means. Certainly, as power problems are the largest single cause of computer downtime, increasing power availability is the most effective way of increasing overall systems availability.
