Diesel engine fuel treatment solutions provider Aderco reports that it has massively downsized the container dimensions of its Aderco 2055G fuel conditioner product – from 20litre-capacity canisters to a 1litre, 1kg bottle – to satisfy smaller craft operators with limited onboard storage space. reeer traler Cummins has been selected to provide the hotel power requirements for a new 39-crew freezer trawler, designed by Skipsteknisk and currently under construction at Tersan Shipyard, Turkey. Te 74m × 16m vessel will be fitted with two Cummins generators: a QSK60 model, rated 1,724kWe, and a QSK19 with an output of 560kWe. These gensets will primarily provide power to the vessel’s accommodation block, navigation suite, processing factory and freezer space, Cummins says. Te vessel will rely on a MAN main engine for its


propulsive power, meanwhile. Te trawler will also be fitted with Ibercisa electric winches, which, Cummins comments, “have a remarkable quality: when the net is being payed out, the force of the turning winch generates electricity – similar to a hybrid car going downhill, but the new energy is not stored in a battery”. Effectively, the winches can be likened to a “power


plant”, adds Inge Bertil Straume, Skipsteknisk sales manager for fishing vessels, thus enabling the operator to use regenerative power from the winches whilst paying out the trawl gear. Straume continues: “Tis free power will normally


be utilised through the other major consumers on board, like the fish factory, freezing machinery and the hotel load.
