What are your best memories of school? More often than not, they are found in the scent of rain on the pitch before a final match, the echoes of laughter at camp, or the excited hum of a crowded theater before the curtain rises.
F abundant opportunities
or parents, choosing a school is about more than academics; it is about finding a place that offers for
their
children and fosters cherished memories along the way. At The International School
of Kuala Lumpur (ISKL), the co-curricular program complements its holistic education by equipping students with the skills to thrive in an ever-changing world. As High School student Hsia J. (’27) reflects, “There are so many clubs, sports, and classes that you can join that I never even knew that you could be a part of. Adding to this, if it didn’t seem like enough, ISKL gives you the option to create your own club and do what you love. In doing this, there is so much support from teachers and staff here. Everyone wants what is best for you.”

A JOURNEY THROUGH THE YEARS In Elementary School, the co- curricular program is an integral part of the ISKL experience, inviting young learners to step beyond the classroom to discover the joy of a new hobby, the thrill of a team sport, or the spark of a new interest. By focusing on the whole child, the school nurtures that same sense of wonder that many parents
remember from their own first steps into the wider world. As students transition into
Middle School (MS), the focus shifts toward developing agency and the future-ready skills needed for an evolving world. Every year, MS students eagerly anticipate Malaysia Week, the ultimate Middle School outdoor experience. Yun Zhe C. (’31) recalls this as his most memorable moment at ISKL: “My most memorable moments from ISKL were Malaysia Week in Langkawi. For the first time, I was away from my family for a whole week and stayed in the wild with my teammates. Throughout the 5-day activities, I learned to get along with people, helping and supporting each other as a team, taking on challenges that I never thought I could do, like abseiling and Skytrex.” By the time students reach High
School (HS), they are empowered to lead clubs and initiatives aligned with their interests, competencies, and aspirations, in preparation for life beyond ISKL. Whether it is Vayden W. (’27) co-leading Computer Science clubs to teach peers how to code, or Amanda V. (‘26) launching “The Thrift Collective” from the ground up to combat fast fashion, students are encouraged to take on leadership positions, explore community needs, plan solutions, and take action.
