EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION
AMY LEWIS DIRECTOR OF MARKETING AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, KITCHENS TO GO BY MOBILE MODULAR
If you look at the way we used to work in commercial kitchens compared to how they are working today, they have changed so much that it’s vital to continue to educate the people who will be designing those spaces, as well as the operators that will work in them.
The opportunity to give back to the industry is important to us. The FCSI Educational Foundation is a vital part of the industry and through our sponsorship we’re able to support their programs like mentorship, education and grants. This is a way for us to support the future of foodservice consulting. I love the learning at FEED because it puts me in a room where I can network with a real mix of people from across the industry, which sparks great conversations. FCSI consultants are at that pivotal midpoint
between design operator issues and industry trends, so when we’re able to connect with them and learn about those trends, we can incorporate them into our kitchens. When a consultant sees their input reflected in our products or services, it changes that relationship into a true partnership. Any industry event where manufacturers and consultants can come together, network, learn, and share knowledge, will continue to keep the industry moving forward. We also need to be bringing up the next group of consultants, manufacturers, sales people and developers because, as we know, we’re not going to be here forever. It is vital that we continue to give back and mentor that next generation to ensure the foodservice industry continues to thrive.

As manufacturers, we are able to help consultants to go beyond specifying and think in terms of solutions. We bring a problem-solving mindset and a broad range of solutions, enabling us to collaborate on what will work best for the operation. By sharing the ‘why’ behind different solutions, we can help build confidence and make design decisions feel more informed. This, in turn, opens the door for more collaboration, thinking beyond layout and aesthetics to consider durability, cleanability, serviceability, and the day-to-day usage of equipment. Through working in partnership
“ By sharing the 'why' behind different solutions, we can help build confidence and make design decisions feel more informed”
with consultants, we create a feedback loop that helps strengthen both future designs and the products we develop.
Our educational remit in this relationship spans access, insight, and experience. It is our responsibility to help consultants understand how our equipment is designed and built, what drives performance, and where common challenges show up in operation. That insight leads to more informed decisions when specifying equipment and designing spaces.
Ultimately, this is about equipping our partners with practical insights they can use, so their designs don’t just look good on paper, but work effectively in operation.

For FCSI, education is more than a word; it’s at the heart of what the Society stands for, fueling knowledge and progress in the industry. Education thrives on collaboration between consultants and manufacturers. FCSI events – from conferences and specialized
workshops to manufacturers' lunch-and-learns, and factory visits – serve as dynamic forums for learning and mentorship, where consultants and manufacturers share knowledge and educate veterans and new professionals alike. Manufacturers strive to deliver high-quality,
relevant education that empowers designers to provide effective solutions to their clients in a rapidly evolving industry. By educating veterans and the next generation of professionals, both FCSI member consultants and manufacturers are actively securing the future of our industry. Additionally, the FCSI Educational Foundation, works to nurture emerging talent and inspire new designers, underscoring FCSI’s belief that today’s learning shapes tomorrow’s success.
Education is at the core of both manufacturers
and FCSI, for a simple reason: people are our future, and by teaching them, we let them lead the way.
