You’ve mentioned wanting the next generation of African DJs to see themselves in your journey. What barriers have you managed to break open that you hope to leave open for those who follow?


One barrier is visibility. When


I started, there weren’t many African DJs in major European residencies. Amsterdam gave me that platform, and now younger


artists can possible. Another see barrier

access. Through One Tribe, I introduce emerging African DJs to European audiences. Once the door is open, it has to stay open. That’s my responsibility. When I first started sharing my sound in Europe, the afro- house scene was still niche in many major cities. Getting a quarterly residency at Shelter as an African-born artist was rare.


That visibility matters


because it shows young DJs from Benin, Nigeria, or South Africa that they can hold space


in these institutions without changing their


identity to fit a


mold. Another barrier was the perception that African rhythms were too “specialist” for main rooms. My Amsterdam sets have proven they can move any crowd, any night. Once you’ve shown that, the next generation doesn’t have to argue for it, they can focus on evolving the sound.


Looking at the evolution of One Tribe from Brooklyn to Amsterdam, what surprises you most about this


journey, and


what is your vision for the next chapter?


The surprise is how fast the philosophy resonated. I thought it would take years for One Tribe to feel real to people outside my immediate community, but the dance floor proved otherwise. The biggest surprise is how universal the feeling has become. I started with a small community in Brooklyn, and now I see One Tribe is all over the world. The vision now is to deepen the impact. I want to launch cultural residencies that pair with


music workshops, storytelling,


and collaborations between African and European artists. Amsterdam will remain the European anchor, but the next chapter is about creating hubs on every continent where One Tribe can root itself in the local culture while staying connected to the global movement. I want One Tribe to be not just an event or a label, but a platform for education, collaboration,


and


preservation of African rhythms in a global context. Amsterdam is the perfect case study because it’s a small city with a huge global footprint. Artists come here, collaborate, and then take that energy back to their own countries. That exchange is the heartbeat of the global afro- house scene, and Amsterdam keeps it strong.
