‘A NYC BOYS’ JOURNEY THROUGH SOUND’

In the heart of the electronic music realm, a sonic visionary

relentless pursuit of musical excellence, a quest driven by passion and a penchant for collaboration.

- THE SERENDIPITOUS BEGINNING

It all began in the unlikeliest of places: Cali, Colombia. Jean Pierre was just 15 years old, a curious soul with an insatiable appetite for new experiences. It was on a regular day, surrounded by friends and a makeshift DJ setup that his destiny was sealed. Two old-school CD player boomboxes connected by a humble Gemini Mixer – no frills, just raw enthusiasm. While his friends were there to dance and party, Jean Pierre found something deeper. “It didn’t matter,” he recalls. “I was hooked right away. I’ve been doing it ever since.”

collaboration. For him, working with fellow artists isn’t just about making music; it’s about kindling the fire of inspiration. The magic happens when artists sync up, their energies intertwining, giving birth to musical wonders. “I feed off of it,” he confesses. Whether it’s starting with a vocal or exploring uncharted sonic territory, collaboration is the heartbeat of his creative process.

inspiration for me. By seeing other artists do their thing it makes me want to do mine. When you get that mood going and you just feel each other out, that’s when the magic happens. I always have an assortment of projects I’ve been sitting on that I break out with different collaborators but sometimes it just starts with a vocal. It really all depends. To be honest, once we get into a rhythm and learn from one another it becomes fluid and the music speaks for itself.”

PAKATE RECORDS: DANCE FLOOR FOCUS

Pakate Records, Jean Pierre’s brainchild, is a testament to his commitment to the dance floor. It’s a label that operates on its own schedule, driven by the pulse of the music and not the constraints of calendars. With a discerning ear, Jean Pierre seeks out younger producers whose energy

“For years and years I always wanted a platform to put out music at a pace that I like to work at. I’m constantly making music and it can become frustrating to wait for

through. There are times when a record drops that I’ve been playing out for a year due to these types of schedules and it doesn’t align with what I’m working on at the moment. With Pakate, our focus is the dance floor. I’m specifically looking to target younger producers that have the energy I’m looking for in my sets. I’ve been lucky enough to come across a number of talented producers such as Tyron Amory, Davide Mentesana, James Wyler, Zamoras and FLETCH (to name a few) that really inspire me with the work they are doing in the studio. They move me with their work and I want that coming out from my label.”

The industry has taken notice. Heavyweights like Marco Carola, Jamie Jones, and The Martínez Brothers have rallied behind Pakate Records, championing its releases on the global stage. For Jean Pierre, this support is more
