by Katie Hammond
POLICE are re-appealing for in formation after a 14-year-old girl wais sexually assaulted by a man in Sabden. The assault took place, at approxi
mately 7-30 a.m. on Monday, Feb ruary 11th, on Padiham Road in the village. As the girl was walking along and was grabbed by a man and pushed down an alleyway.

other children, were advised to terminate the pregnancy as doctors had discovered a very large tumour which was restricting the flow of blood and predicted that the baby would not survive. Miraculously Charley-Marie’s heart
found a way to pump blood around the tumour. Charley Marie has just turned three and, along with her sister, Emma- Jean (five), is doing very well. Both girls are fortunate that they have
not had the seizures, caused by tumours in the brain, and other symptoms which often affect people with TSC. Also mildly affected, the girls’ father
Andy, was found to have TSC through genetic testing, although he had not pre viously been diagnosed. Now the family know what to watch out for and can be closely monitored for any problems. The girls face an uncertain future, but the family are very grateful for the sup-
port they receive from the Tuberous Sclerosis Association and for its efforts in backing vital and extremely promising re
search to find effective treatments for this condition. David, a support worker at Calder-
stones Hospital, Whalley, hopes his mara thon efforts will help to make a difference and anyone who would like to support his hard work can make a donation via his justgiving page at http://www.justgiving. com/David-Clarkson4 . David said: “Running a marathon for the first time is going to be a great per sonal achievement for me, but it’s also ^eat to be able to give something back to the Tuberous Sclerosis Association which gives families like Charley-Marie and Emma-Jean’s such tremendous support.” • For more information about the Tu

that 45-year-old Teresa Ann Waterhouse received more than £10,000 in housing benefit, council tax benefit and incapacity benefit. Waterhouse, o f Littlemoor
View, pleaded guilty to failing to notify a change of circumstances. She was made subject to com
munity supervision for 15 months and ordered to pay £85 in costs. Miss Parveen Akhtar (pros ecuting) said the overpayment of £10,434 was made over a 20-month period. She said the local authority of
fices from where the housing and council tax benefits were adminis tered was only a minute away from where Waterhouse was working. Mr Imran Hussain (defend
ing) said Waterhouse was born in America and had come to the UK
'with her former husband in 1998. He said Waterhouse was still mar ried at the time she made what had been a legitimate claim. “She went through a long, acri
monious divorce which caused her considerable emotional stress. She hasn’t lived an extravagant lifestyle and has actually struggled to make ends meet,” said Mr Hussain.
