The crowning of the new ; Rose Queen Emily Rickard . and garden party on Satur- v day afternoon had to be held indoors because of the rain,: but the hall was packed out : with visitors who bought from the various stalls and enjoyed afternoon tea. On Sunday the' weather was fine and bright > when the new queen and her retinue, along with lastyear’s queen and her attendants, led members of the church in the annual walking day, beginning at church and going round the village with stops for prayers - and hymns. Accompaniment was from the Earby Brass Band and there was a very good turnout of walkers who ;■ returned to the church for a ■- Z- service.
