TEACHERS in Ribble Valley schools have been learning from each other and recognised experts how best to inspire and motivate their pupils to even greater success. Held at The Grand, in Clitheroe,
the area's first ever collaborative local education CPD (Continuing Professional Development) venture was a big hit. It was a joint teacher
' training afternoon fo'r all local secondary school staff, who could hear from expert speakers and share best practice between themselves,
• for the benefit of all. This unique collaborative venture involved all teachiiig staff from
Bowland High, Ribblesdale, St Augustine's RC High School and Clitheroe Royal Grammar School, its fundamental objective was for all the schools to share examples of good practice, so that all teaching staff could take away the ideasto raise their own levels of perforrfianc'e in the classroom and enhance the learning opportunities of the pupils. One' of the organisers, Ribblesdale
Deputy Andrew Davidson, said the aim of the training afternoon was "for all the staff in each school to look at very different examples of good practice that are presently
being used, for staff to note the methods and strategies arid then to; go back into the classroom and try ;. them in their everyday teaching." ' , He added that local collaboration ' was the way forward on raising standards to new heights. 'The win-win ethos of local,
teachers learning frofn each other through planned long-term collaboration will push-education standards even higher across all subjects in all schools in the Ribble Valley," said Andrew, "and that must be a good thing for all secondary pupils, their parents and the local businesses in the Valley."
