under the National Garden Scheme on Saturday and Sunday from 1-30 to 5 p.m. Admission is £3, although children are free. ,'


ANIMAL lovers across Kibble Valley can actively support their local branch of the RSPCA through a new charity shop in Clitheroe. The RSPCA Lancashire East


branch opened its second chari­ ty shop outlet on Saturday, choosing Clitheroe as the venue. The new shop, in Castle.


Street, was .opened by the Mayor of Clitheroe, Coun. Mary Robinson. She cut the rib­ bon while a crowd looked on, then it was all hands on deck to serve the many shoppers who turned out for the opening. ■ The shop sells a range of qual­


ity used clothing, bric-a-brac, toys, games and books, plus some new RSPCA branded items such as keyrings and dog leads. All money raised in the shop will be spent on local ani­ mals in the care of the RSPCA. Donations of goods to sell can

Police hunt van raiders

POLICE are hunting two men after the th e f t of gardening tools from th eb a ck o f av an . The white van was parked in Rogers-


field, Langho, at 2-30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 23rd, while the owner was carry­ ing out work in a nearby garden.


The thieves were spotted in a white


transit van with orange striping on the panelling. This vehicle pulled alongside the-victim's van. ;. The offenders opened the sliding door


and stole several powertools from , inside. The haul included a Stihl FS90R brusheutter valued a t £405, a FS80 brusheutter worth around £405 and a leaf blower, possibly a 56 or 80 model, valued at £220. ; .' Police believe the same men were seen


acting suspiciously a t an address on Sunnyside Avenue, in Wilpshire, at. around Tp.in. the same day, when one
