or the first 100 years, the front pages of the newspaper we now know as the Clitheroe Advertiser and Times were packed with advertisements.


Turn inside and the few broadsheet pages were


crammed with news. Everything, it seemed, impor­ tant or not, was covered in great detail. • Below, we delve into our archives to take an


extremely random look at some of the newspapers from the past. Although we do still have newspapers from the early days in our possession, time has taken its toll. For readers interested in turning back the pages


themselves, copies are accessible at Clithcroo Library on microfiche reader.
