Much-loved Edie dies at age of 102 Record eniry


A WELL-KNOWN and much-loved resi­


dent of Chatburn’s Manor House Nursing Home, Mrs Edith Lina Baily, has died

aged 102. Mrs Baily, known as


I Edie, had been a resident a t Manor House for 12 years, before which she lived with her daughter, Jean, and family in

she started work as a machinist, an activity which she was able to prac­ tise expertly well into her


90s. A Londoner born and


bred, she moved to Buxton during the war and, from there, to Clitheroe and on


to Chatburn. Mrs Baily had always


attributed her long life to moderate habits, having never smoked and only occasionally having a


drink. The funeral service was


held at Calverleys Chapel of Rest, Chatburn Road, Clitheroe, on Monday and was followed by cremation at Accrington Crematori­


um.Mrs Baily leaves a daughter, Jean, son-in-law, Eddie, grandaughter, Jane
