CLITHEROE Reserves made easy work of a Castleton Gabriels Reserve side that fielded several of
their first team players. With first team manager Gary Butcher play
ing up-front with Geoff Young the Reserves were just too strong for their visitors. _
/
Young opened the scoring after 30 minutes when he beat the off-side trap and calmly slid the ball past the oncoming keeper. Andy King and newcomer Shaun Lister
worked hard in midfield to close down opponents and wingers Lee Slater and Steve Elmer showed good touches. Castleton did not create much, but the
Reserves’ back four coped with everything. Butcher had a couple of chances in the
first half, but could not finish them off. Twenty minutes into th e second half
Clitheroe made it 2-0 when a cross from Slater was put back across goal by Elmer to Butcher who set up Slater to blast the
ball past the stranded keeper. Later on Butcher hit the post and King
had half a chance, but the game ended 2- 0 to Clitheroe.

The side are at home to Cross Hills on Saturday, and then take on Mill Hill St Peter’s in the semi-final of the Presi dent’s Cup. The match kicks off at &-15 p.m. on Tuesday and will be played at Bank Hall, Burnley.

play their final game of the season when they take on Commercial at Wilsons. They will be looking for
their fifth win of the sea son, but cannot now finish higher than second from

has been extended by one game as they must face Kings Arms in a play-off to decide the First Division’s runners-up. That game will be played on April 27th a t a venue

Dave on cue for snooker success
BILLINGTON A’s Dave Wilson was deservedly crowned individual knockout champion of the Clitheroe and District Snooker League after a 2-0
win over Paul Craig of Chatbum. The final was held prior to the league s annual pre
sentation night at Clitheroe Social Club. Canadian professional Alain Robidoux was on hand
to distribute the trophies and treat the healthy crowd to a display of top-class snooker and trick-shots. Dave played well in the final but Craig cannot be too
disappointed as he and team-mate Gary Simkin lifted the doubles title with a 2-1 win over Dave Allen and Bob Brown of Police.
