WHEN members of Clitheroe Probus Club were asked if they took part in physical activ­


ity, there was a very positive response. • Miss Carole Richardson posed the question at the


programme for the “Activ­ ity for Life” campaign. Sadly, she claimed that


only 40 per cent of men and 30 per cent of women in Britain are active enough . to benefit their health. ’Motivation was, she suggested, the key to suc­ cess in achieving a healthy and enjoyable lifestyle. She advised the older gen­ eration to look around for interesting active pursuits and recommended garden­ ing, car washing, cycling and dancing, and sug­ gested that many people could begin by leaving the car in the garage and walking briskly into town.
