Chef Paul finds the recipe for success in London
A CLITHEROE chef working in the capital has won a dream holiday to Africa after receiving a top award from a lead ing independent London
hotel group. Sarova Hotels has named
Mr Paul Hargreaves, of
Riverside, Low Moor, their “ Employee of the Year,” with first prize a holiday for two at their Whitesands Hotel, Mombassa, Kenya.
Mr Hargreaves, who is Chef de
Partie at the Rembrandt Hotel, Knightsbridge, competed against colleagues from four Sarova hotels in central London.
Before joining the Rembrandt
last summer, he was a chef at the Holiday Inn, Kensington, while his first job was at the Spread Eagle pub, Barrow, following his training at Accrington and Ros- sendale College.

Arsonist had mental disorder,

court was told. Robert Gregson (54), of
Kirkdale Avenue, pleaded
guilty to three charges of arson, being reckless as to whether life would be endangered, when he ap p ea red at P res ton
Crown Court. The properties involved
in the arson attacks were at Meadow View, Clith
eroe, Mitton Green Cot tages, Mitton, and offices in A c c r in g ton Road,
Whalley. Al l the offences took
place on September 23rd last year.
Gregson denied three
alternative charges of arson with in ten t to endanger l i fe and Mr Andrew Lowcock (prose cuting) said the pleas were acceptable in the light of liis mental condition.
Mr Gerald Lumley, for
Gregson, said his client was suffering from a men tal condition which could p r o g r e s s to s e n i le dementia.
He asked for the case to
be adjourned for two months to allow further
psychiatric assessment to be carried out and made no application for bail.
