WHALLEY moved into the next round of the LFA Adidas
Shield with a comfortable vic tory over Preston Premier League side Buxton Villa. After an even f irs t 10
minutes, Buxton broke clear but Whalley’s Darren Hope was on hand to clear off his own goal line. Two minutes later, a great strike from Robin Bury hit the upright and the deflection was scram

the driving seat. Dave Parr opened the scor
ing with a close range shot after good work from Robin Bury and Tommy Poole. Then a surging ran from Ian Bolton split the visitors’ defence, his cross being met by Shaun Smith who made no mistake with his finish. After 50 minutes, the game
was finally put beyond Bux ton’s reach as Whalley scored
their third. Shaun Smith and Stuart Ormerod combined
