His wife, l-’lorrie, was the h e a d m i l l i n e r fo r th e
Knighls of Windsor under King George. Her father had been the head g a r dener for Queen Victoria. In keeping with tradition.

Mr King, who also used

finances of farming. Sixteen women — rang
ing in age from 25 to do have par t ic ipa ted in the w e e k 1y c l a s s , wh i c h f o c u s e d oil m a n a g i n g a c c o u n t s an d in c lu d ed visi ts from a bank man ager and solicitor. The cour se, organised
by the Lancashire College of Agriculture and Horti cul ture . was the first in C'litheroe to la- targeted at that age group. Tradition ally. classes taught in the P a r i s h Hal l h av e been a im e d a t 17, I s an d 19-year-olds.
The course has been so successful that 12 partici
