WITH just ovlt two weeks to go to the start of the World Championship Martini Kenya Safari Rally, Clitheroe co-driver John Meadows is cur rently making last minute plans before jetting off for Africa. John, of Southfield Drive, West Iirtullord, is
once again teaming up with Japanese driver Ken- jiro Xhinozuka in the Mitsubishi works team and will take part in a Galant VR-I. Having already been out to Kenya for testing
last December and with the experience gained on this and other African rallies, the Clitheroe insurance broker is confident of a top five finish. Shinozuka, who finished third in the 1’aris-Cape
Town Rally, has built up a tine partnership with Meadows and the pair have recorded top Id places in both the Kenya and the Ivory Coast Rallies. Starting on March 27th, the Kenya Salari Rally
runs for six days, covering over 2.000 miles of treacherous tracks, dried up river beds and wild

CYCLING brothers Mark and Alan Gnrnall had to battle against the odds in the .lock Wadey Road Race in Kssex at t he weekend.
Mark, having suffered

were not disgruntled and made the race as a useful workout, ready for the first round this weekend of the Star Trophy, the Grand Rrix of Kssex.
Competing for the Ace

may need to carry out. Mark, as defending
champion, certainly has a victory chance, but. as only one person lias ever won the event back to back, it will take all his strength and skill to claim first place.
