SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT (BLACKBURN) PHILIP

Can you offer a home to Philip? For the last seven years

Philip's home has been a hostel for the handicapped. He is a lively 16-year-old who is likeable, amusing and cheerful. He likes to help with jobs around the home, such as tidying up, setting the table and making the bed. Philip enjoys pop music, walking in the countryside and

trips out. He has a very good imagination and occupies himself in many ways — model making and painting being two of his

enjoyments. At school, Philip's concentration is very good and he can

complete tasks given to him. He is very helpful and has a kind dispocition towards children less capable than himself. However. Philip will never academically develop to the same degree as some children because of his mental handicap, but he is capable in many other ways. He can look after his own personal needs and will be able to undertake some form of work when he leaves school. Support, both financial and practical, would be given to a

family prepared to foster mentally handicapped children. Philip would greatly benefit from a foster family who are

strong and supportive. If you and your family can give Philip a warm, loving experience of family.life in return for the love and affection he would give you, please telephone John Lawson on Blackburn 584449.
