Gales cause havoc in the Ribble Valley
A HIGHLIGHT in many a farmers’ year is the sheep sale at Chipping, when over a thousand animals come under the hammer to be bought by people from far and wide.
The annual sale,
organised by au ctioneer Mr Robin Addyman, on behalf of the Chipping Show Society, and held at Leagram Park, comprises top quality sheep from local farms. Coming from Chipping and Bleasdale, they are mainly hal f -bred mule and masham girnmer lambs. Last year there were 1,600 sheep on offer, and one buyer came from as fa r away as Hampshire.
Sales were held in
the 1950s, but there was a break until they were revived four years ago.
