Rain put damper on attendance

ALTHOUGH the attendance at Saturday’s annual Grindleton Sports Day was badly af fected by the poor weather, most of the events went off without any problems and some £400 was raised for the village recreation ground charity. One of the highlights of

the afternoon was a pre sentation to Mr • Tony Cann, a former secretary who was very active in the formation of the charity. Chairman Mr John

Kenyon handed over a painting of the playing fields, the work of spare time artist Mr Tony . Har greaves, who lives in Grindleton. As well as a variety of

Band and the Country Fair Morris Dancers pro vided the entertainment and judges for the fancy d r e s s were Mrs A. Durham and Mrs T2. Irwin.
