THE 13th league game of the season proved to be an unlucky one for'Wad dington in the 'Premier Division of Blackburn Combination, Lower Chapel inflicting a shock 4-3 defeat. Chapel deserved their half

time lead of three clear goals if only for their determination

grips with the task and several chances went begging, particu larly \yhen Geldard volleyed against the bar. Ainsworth headed the rebound against the bar arid Lower Chapel cleared. It was only midway through

the second half that Wadding ton pulled a goal back through Kirk. Pressure was increased but it was Chapel who went further ahead when a direct 25- yard free kick deceived Nuttall. Soon afterwards Green

Weekend without a win

TWO defeats made the weekend a disappointing one for Clitheroe Ladies’ Hockey Club. On Saturday they were

knocked out of the semi finals of the Plate compet- ition by Lancaster, and on the following day ' they lo s t a league match against Leyland Motors. In the Plate match a

Table tennis

IT HAS happened at last. Clitheroe Royal Grammar School’s unbeaten run as leaders of Division Two of the Ribblesdale Table Tennis Association has ended with a 6-4 defeat

by Queensway B. However this has done little

to dim the school's prospects of being champions. Club captains are asked to

remember the committee meet ing to be held this evening at the Starkie Arms Hotel (8 p.m.). All members are asked to return any counterfoils and unsold raffle tickets to the meeting. Results. Division One: Stan-
