THREE members of Clitheroe and District Rifle and Pistol Club are keeping their fingers crossed that they have shot well enough to make the finals of a national rifle and pistol shooting competition. Brian Pearce, of Chatbum,
just taken part in the semi finals of the competition, being run by the National Smallbore Rifle Association and Eley, am munition manufacturers. The compettion is shot at

DESPITE very wet conditions which no doubt had an effect on some of the results in the Great Harwood Bowling League, only one game was abandoned. In Division One the closest
possible result was at Clitheroe Castle where league leaders Oswaldtwistle Con. were vis itors. Each team had four win ners and Oswaldtwistle won the aggregate by one point, 137-136. Salesbury also secured an
aggregate victory over Rishton Con. A, Brockhall suffered their first defeat at the hands of Waddington and Mercer Park Ladies recorded their second win. Victoria Hotel made a draw
and shared the points with Foxhill.
