Mystery; fault traced
A MYSTERY electrical supply fault which plagued an area south of Gisburn for a fortnight has been traced by Norweb. A faulty piece of over- cashiro magazine literary
head equipment was to blame. It caused periodic blackouts at the Stirk House Hotel and eight farms.
■.power line protection arrangements, which spread the disruption to the Slaidburn area — though for shorter periods.
The fault activated ,
said engineers were 99% certain the trouble had been diagnosed. The faulty, eq u ipm en t had been replaced, but an alterna tive supply source would continue to be used until later this week. The sys tem would then be brought back to normal — an oper ation which would cause only a brief interruption of supply.
A Norweb spokesman
the area continued last Fri day. At 9-30 another fault affected Sawley, Grindle- ton, Bolton-by-Bowland and part of Slaidburn. Sup ply to the majority of users was restored by 11-15, but part of Sawley remained affected until 1-30 p.m.

All the board’s local Poodle bottle sets a poser
GUESTS at an effort for the International Year of the Child, organised by Grindledon WI, were really stumped by a “poodle poser.” The “poodle” was a cleverly disguised bottle donated by Miss B. Goodall.
Despite numerous attempts to guess its contents, nobody came up with the correct solution, so it wMI now go up for auction at
a.later date. The bottle was just one of the fund-raising attractions at Rushton House,
£100 was raised. . "
