Hush-money Peace reigned in Sabden
Baptist Church on Sunday morning — but not for long. The unusual silence came when more than 20 Sunday School pupils took part in a sponsored silence and stayed “mum” for half- an-hour. Mr George Urry kept a
check on the time and when the half-hour was up the children made their presence known by letting out a huge cheer. The money-raising event
was part of the Sunday School’s efforts to raise more than £4 each month to sponsor a child in the Third World through the Action in Distress organ isation. The sponsorship money
will be collected in the next two weeks.
