the committee decided to put the old bakery at 7 Union Street, Low Moor, on the open market.

Conversion costs for this

property would be high, so the committee is to see whether an improvement grant can be made to help any buyer.

Officer Mr Norman Turner said the council could not repair the courts in time for them to be used this year, because it would cost too much. The surfaces needed

substantial repairs and the perimeter fencing was b adly corrod ed a n d dangerous in places. C o u n . B r a i t h w a i t e

Give parishes a better deal —councillor

IT is high time the Ribble Valley Council gave parish councils a better deal when grants are shared out. This is the view of Coun.

Jack Carr (Billington), who told the Recreation and Leisure Committee that there was a tremendous difference between the amount of parishes paid in ra te s and what they received in benefits from the council. He was commenting on a

report by Chief Executive Mr Michael Jackson, who

said that during the last financial year the commit tee had distributed £5,000. As a result, said Coun.
