day brought several problems for Waddow Hall’s first a u tum n fair, but did not pre vent it from being a great success. .

in cars and conches that tlu; car park was full and the drive
blocked In a couple of places, preventing some people from attending,'
The hall itself was so
crowded that the body heat set off the sensitive fire detec tors, but the bells were turned off quickly and the lire brigade did not arrive.
Many events took place inside the hall and in a large
[ marquee which, fortunately, had been put up in case of
rain. The rain did not deter the
Tarleton Morris dancers, who gave an outdoor performance and a few people, braved the wcathor to try their hand at "welly-throwing.” •This
