AN exhibition of corn dollies provides an alternative to the books at Whalley Library for the next nine days. The dollies are the work of Read housewife Mrsi Sheila
Sturrock who (is exhibiting other corn arrangements as well. Mrs Sturrock, of Singleton Avenue, has been making corn
dollies for about a year. Also on show at the library are paintings by Bury artist Mr
Allan Clark. The 37 oil and water colour works — depicting country
scenes — sell for anything from £10 to £40. Both exhibitions started last weekend and go on until a
week on Saturday. They can be viewed during normal library opening times.
