AFTER what must rank as one of the longest ties in the history of the Amateur League, Hurst Green were worthy win ners on the day and now meet Chatburn in the Aitken Shield semi-final. It was sweet revenge for the villagers, Trinity having achieved the double over them in the league and they had not had much luck in previous games in this tie.
Green went about the game with a determination that could not have gone unre warded while Trinity, with McGurk obviously not fully recovered from a'bout of flu, were not up to the standard of previous engagements.

and kicked uphill, clearly hoping to keep Trinity out from the first half and then take advantage of the slope in the second.

means plain sailing for the eventual winners. After
