a close with a talk on the work of the Venture Scout Unit executive committee.
WITH a cast of more than 50, including a large number of children of the staff, Cal- derstones Hospital Revue and Dramatic Society’s Christmas pantomime is proving great fun.
This year it is “Red Riding
Hood” and again it has been scripted by Sirs Audrey Foy, secretary to the hospital's chief nursing officer.
After a special show for
patients on Tuesday, the panto opened to the public last night. Advance booking was brisk, and tonight’s per formance was sold out several weeks ago. Scats are still left for the Saturday matinee (2-30 p.m.), and another per formance at 7-15 p.m. the same day. Rehearsals for the show
went fairly smoothly. An appeal for some "props” that were proving hard to get— a golfing umbrella and some bows and arrows—was suc cessful, as was the dress re hearsal. Treading the boards at an
early age, younger members of the east are pictured re hearsing in the hospital's own theatre.
Widow mistook door and fell to death

“ She was helping us to clear up after the party, when my brother told me she had had a bad fall,” he said. “ I found her lying unconscious at the foot of the cellar steps. She never regained consciousness.'' Mr Masters explained that
his mother had gon e through the cellar door un wittingly. She might have got the door confused with the kitchen 'door, which was next to it and of identical colour and design.
HAPPY There were three doors

The top step of the cellar
was right behind the door and she would have had no chance of saving herself, not knowing what lay ahead. She did not even have time to find the light switch. Mrs Masters's younger
