WELCOME AWAITS YOUNG
RIDERS IN THIS column a fortnight ago, I commented on the position of Bob Porter as leader of the British Best All - Rounder competition and said that I could not see him losing the lead in the last two weeks. The same weekend Phill Griffiths of Gloucester City C.C. took the lead after a 12-hour ride of 277 miles, leaving Porter in the position of having to do 1-51-17 in his final 50 to regain the lead. In the event he got down to only 1-52-54, and had to be con

through by R. Freeman, scored again to make it 3-0. After Atkinson had made another good save, Ellison rocked the Billington bar with a terrific shot from 20 yards, & R. Free man added another goal when the keeper lost possession under challenge from Procter. Soon
