VETERANS HAVE 100

MEMBERS Years ago when the

racing men talked about courses, mention of the name ‘Brock’ would con jure up visions of the old ‘25’ course known at L2 which started near Nichol son's and turned

the Lancaster boundary. Increasing traffic made the

use of L2 difficult so the new 25 course taking in part of Blackpool Road w used.

Now that tlie motorway is taking most of -the traffic it

was decided to try out tlie Lancaster Road again with a modified start and a far turn at Hampson Green round about. The ‘new’ L1A has come into being.

I t was on this course that

the North Lancs ‘Vets’ held their ‘25’ mile event on Sun day.

After tlie exertions o f the

previous week in tlie dales -the 25 mile distance seemed quite short, but once more a troublesome cross wind was a factor that pulled all the times down.

Even tho fast lads in the

main event promoted by Ribble Valley C.R.C. had to bo content with a winning ride 21 seconds over the hour.

The fastest ‘Vet’ was again

Jack Spencer, of Clayton, in 1-3-30. Pour North Lancs

Clarion riders entered and Harry Aspden returned in 1-6-23 and Brian Nightingale in 1-11-6.

At the meeting of the North

Lancs ‘Vets’ group after the event it was announced that membership had topped the 100 mark for tlie first time.

The club hope- to watch

the Three Peaks Pell Race at Horton and at the finish at Ohapel-Le-Dale. This will

.be a very interesting run for new riders who are welcome to join us when we leave Clitheroe at 9-00 a.m. on Sunday. I t will be about 65 miles.

the latter’s ground. Chipping had the advan

hit back. Squires heading home a Duncamson cross, and Procter making it 2—0 at half-time. After the interval ex

changes were fairly even but Squires eventually added a third for Chipping. Later, good keeping by Atkinson held Low Moor at bay in the closing stages of what had been a good clean game. Chipping team: Atkinson;
