muddle, and Clitheroe persisted in trying to plough their way through with individual efforts, or short passes, instead of sending a long through ball or cross-field passes. They were stricken with ill-luck even before the game


started, for Philip Dobson, the chosen centre forward was taken ill. His place was taken by Mel Widdup who moved


from outside right, while Arthur Gill relumed to the rich! wing.
