Clithrcoc Show, a red-letter day on the town’s diary, is expected to attract a record attendance tomorrow.
And celebrating the show’s 21st year of running will be the chairman Mr. James Wilkinson of Chatburn Road, and the vice-chairman. Councillor R. Williamson of Sagar Fold, Withgill (chairman of Bowland Rural Council) who will also
be holding their offices for the 21st time. The Show, organised by the Clitheroe and District Agricultural Society is held on
a 25-acre site at Bellman Farm, Clitheroe. Over the past few years the show organisers have learned not to be superstitious, so the fact that tomorrow is the 13th is not un duly worrying them.
Bad luck has hit the show time and time again—for two
years torrential rain deluged the well-prepared field displays, turning the show into a mud-battle and ruining the clothes of those who would not take advice on what to wear, or more properly on what NOT to wear.
Last___ year Lady Luck
frowned on the show again, when the polio outbreak which hit the area prevented the attendance numbers from being an all-time record, for the show was blessed with a fine, sunny day.
The only need turer.
