urally tliiniied our atlendance, but there was a good prograninie. Mopr Lane Chapel Choir gave us of tlieir best in the Uto an- thenis, '‘Break I'ortli into joy,’’ and “'How sweet the calm,'’ and in the solo, "The Gift,” by Miss Ford. Mr. Hayhurst was the leader, and Mr. J. C. Ford tlie accom- paiiist. Mr. 1 Marshall took the cliaiir, and the speaker was Mr. T. Fletcher, of Burnley. In the course of an interesting address on the potter and his work, Mr. l-'leiclicr remarked: Our Saviour founded Aiis great parables on very ordinary things in nature and in die diuly life of men. Joremiali learned from the potter at his work. Go into die potter’s workroom and you will see diim at his work. Maybe he is making a teapot or a vase, or somediing else, but mere is a purpose in die mind of the jxitter. You are only successful as you achieic God's purpose. There is a won derful variety in all God's works. You see variety in flowers, in animals, and birds. You never see two men exact’y alike. Notice again there is a varying capacity in die potter’s vessels. Some are shallow and others are deep. God has made some men of great capacity, .while others arc only shallow. Let us not be discouraged, for men of small capacity may do great things. Maybe God, the Great Potter, has tried 'o make us useful, but we would not allow Him. We have often been content to be seconds when we might have been firsts. G'Od. who made Bu.iiyan the guide of thou sands to the Celestial City, who ma'de the great Livingstone, and the noble Paul, can make each of u.s useful.
