Perenco UK Partners with ANSA Data Analytics to Revolutionize Multifinger Caliper Data Analysis
An independent hydrocarbon producer, Perenco has partnered with Aberdeen-based ANSA Data Analytics (ANSA) as part of the ongoing development of Clarity, ANSA’s next-generation software for processing multi-finger caliper data.
ANSA launched Clarity, its AI-powered multifinger caliper log analysis software, in the Spring of 2023. Following a successful rollout with several early adopters, ANSA issued a version update featuring several new features in July of 2023.
A partnership with Perenco is one of the several strategic data-sharing collaborations that will enhance Clarity’s machine learning and artificial intelligence capabilities. Both ANSA and Perenco will benefit from this partnership. Perenco is recognising the potential for Clarity to answer their questions about the condition of the casing and tubing in their wells. Particularly when looking for quick answers at the well site, where data transmission to an offsite analyst is challenging and causes delays. Under the agreement of the partnership, Perenco will have free licenses for Clarity as well as training and support for their in-house team. In turn, ANSA will have access to Perenco’s historical store of multifinger caliper surveys, which will contribute to enhancing the specialised algorithms in Clarity.
It’s important to highlight that neither Perenco’s nor any other client's survey log data is retained in Clarity. Machine learning models are continually improved using clients' data sets and deployed in Clarity, but these models can’t be used to recreate

the data from which it was derived. Moreover, nothing is carried forward from the data a client releases into any commercial version of Clarity.
As a result, numerous processing modules in Clarity will benefit as the machine learning engineers work towards the next version update: damage classification, deformation evaluation, completion item identification, and assessment, to name a few. But in the meantime, having confidence in the results of each of the primary data processing modules, centralisation and joint detection allows Clarity users to have complete confidence in the data analysis and the decisions based on Clarity’s reports.
The team behind Clarity believes that well owners who have been used to receiving processed log results from third parties and perhaps questioning if they have the time and resources to handle analysis themselves will be the new beneficiaries of what the software has to offer – easy access to
quick and independent multifinger caliper log analysis.
