New Tug Construction Drives New Deck Machinery Solutions
Tugboat advancements are pushing deck equipment suppliers to develop new solutions, particularly winches, which are crucial for efficient towage performance.
In response to new technology trends and market demands, manufacturers are adjusting their processes and products to enhance performance and reduce their footprint on deck.
Lightweight, compact, reliable and responsive winches are the preferred combination for tug builders and owners, said DMT Marine Equipment Chief Executive Piet ter Schure.
Environmental trends, reducing emissions and increasing bollard pull are also driving suppliers to develop tailored deck machinery for newbuild tugs.
DMT Marine Equipment is aligning its deck machinery to these newbuilding trends in its highly technical production facilities.
“Researching and developing environmentally friendly solutions for our products is another trend at the top of DMT’s priority list for the next years,” said Mr Schure.
“Inhouse engineering, production, testing and quality checking is a process flow that allows DMT to have full control over the solutions proposed to its customers.” he added.
Mr Schure said the deck machinery supplier needs to constantly improve to keep up with the growing demands of the towage industry.
